Bands I Saw At Download And How I Rate Their Performance

Friday
Fear Factory - 6
What the hell I wanted to see Rise To Remain and Cancer Bats but I get this instead?! It was good, but… I want Cancer Bats… =/
Terrorvision - 8
Only caught the second half of the set, didn’t know who they are, but great energy and they really impressed me with what I saw.
Europe - 0
Didn’t show up. Biggest disappointment. I could swear I was the only one who wanted to see more than The Final Countdown - I know their other songs! Then they don’t come. Fucking hell.
Little Angels - 9
I’ll admit I only knew Too Much, Too Young, but they were awesome. Really really awesome. And the lead singer was fiiiine. (Also the trumpet dude was excellently enthusiastic)
Opeth - 9.5
They were incredible. And Slash was air drumming along. Just… Awesome.
Nightwish - 7
Stage show - good. Bagpipe player - good. Dress sense - good. Music - eh.
Slash - 9
I’m a massive Slash fanboy, so ofc I’d think he was amazing. But… His weird extra solo in Rocket Queen didn’t sit right with me. And… The gig didn’t seem that special. Didn’t seem like anything extra over a normal Slash show, unfortunately.

Saturday
Saxon - 9
Really good. Really really good. I’ll admit I don’t know enough Saxon. But their perfomance, given their age, was incredible.
Trivium - 8
Incredible. But nothing super I reckon. Like… Musically great. But there was something else kinda missing.
Steel Panther - 10
The most fun performance. Boobs. ‘Nuff said.
Tenacious D - 7.5
Steel Panther was hard to follow. The D were great. But not as hilarious as expected, which was unfortunate.
Biffly Clyro - 6.5
Only got the end of the set. Not my thing, but good.
Metallica - 9
Fantastic stage show. The music was really great too. Crowd was amazing. Got crushed.

Sunday
Devildriver - 7
Still slightly drunk from the night before. Don’t exactly remember much. But they were great. Just wish I knew more of their stuff.
Kyuss Lives - x
I only watched the first two songs, so can’t really judge.
Reckless Love - 9
Most feelgood music ever. Lead singer was beautiful. Just a great atmosphere. Just plain fun music.
Anthrax - 7.5
Great. I don’t know enough of their stuff really though. But good headbanging music.
Black Label Society - 6.5
I expected more than I got, I’m afraid. Though I thought I might’ve been hyped up by my friend into thinking they were better than they actually were live. I dunno.
Lamb Of God - 8.5
Now that was good. Lamb Of God are just an amazing band though, so what could I expect?
Megadeth - 5
Dave’s voice was on form. The musicianship… Wasn’t. I don’t think. Didn’t feel great to me.
Soundgarden - 8.5
Really really good. I wish I’d’ve known more of their music though. Fantastic performance.
Black Sabbath - 9.9
The whole crowd was amazing. And it was fucking Black Sabbath. They played amazingly too. I was just… Ever so slightly annoyed that it wasn’t Bill Ward. The new drummer was spectacular, but still, the style was ever so slightly not him. I’m sorry for being a purist.

Overall, fucking great weekend.

Much as I’ve been kinda inactive lately

I should warn you I’ll be even more inactive over the next five days. Going away to Download Fest! =D

Money I’ve spent on Download stuff recently:

£30 - Food and drink. Y’know, for staying alive for 5 days.

£60 - Whiskey.

Download Fest

Casually looking through rumours for other bands playing -

GWAR ARE PLAYING DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL!!! <3 http://twitter.com/#!/k2burn/status/48459661896192001

Black Label Society are likely, it would seem

Trivium and The Scorpions have both said that they want to play, and that their tour managers are talking to the Download organisers

RATT ARE APPARENTLY PLAYING

Europe seem likely

Joan Jett and Iggy Pop are both confirmed for Isle Of Wight (apparently), so maybe them?

For some reason Van Halen are high up the rumours list, but idk where any evidence for this is

I could go on. But I shouldn’t.

BLACK SABBATH AND METALLICA!!! <3
